Veteran A. Grant provides early rookie advice

This is a post from Veteran A. Grant to help rookies get ready for the MGI in 2012.

About 2 weeks out, I recommend preparing for the Miami Golf Invitational by:
– Limiting your sleep to about 3 hours per night.
– Drinking heavily, 2-3 drinks at lunch is a good start. Finish strong at night with vodka, beer, and bourbon.
– Eating greasy food 3x daily, and get back on red meat.
– There is now workout gym at Shula’s, and if you find one, you will not be re-invited.
– Begging at least four banks for a $1,000 increase on your credit cards, in order to be ready for credit card roulette.
– Inhaling 5 hours worth of cigar smoke to adjust your lungs.
– Logging at least 10 hours of online blackjack to understand the fundamentals of the game,  as we play “Cups” poolside, and watch out for the “Vegas Sharks”.
– Spending about 2 hours in your local tanning bed, a Grant ritual, without lotion, unless it is my lotion “Tann Summers-Rub me all over you”.
– Sitting in your bath tub for 3 straight hours spiked with a gallon of chlorine and a mix of urine.  Your bath tub is only slightly smaller than the hot tub.
– Understanding hot tub rules that when the tub stops, you have to get out and restart it, and also bring another beer from your cooler to all the veterans in the hot tub.
Good luck to the Rookies, as the repeat invite is tough to get! You have to earn it!

MGI press release and rookie announcement 2012

Miami Golf Invitational 2012 official release:

The Miami Golf Invitational is officially scheduled for February 29th – March 3rd. It will be again be held at the famed Shula Golf Club on the Senator Course where the fairways on the back nine get tight and there is water on just about every hole.

As for the condition on of the course, we sought out a comment from Kenny Fill, Director of Golf.

 January, 19th, 2012.

Good afternoon Craig.  I hope all is well with you and your group.  The
golf course is in great shape!  We are looking forward to hosting the
Miami Golf Invitational.

Regards,
Kenny Fill

This year’s group features ten veterans that all have multiple years of experience and experiences at the Miami Golf Invitational.  Unfortunately, the four rookies from the 2011 Invitational did not receive their 2012 invites, as their lack of respect and tradition for the MGI was evident!

The 2012 Invitational features two new rookies, Steve Guolla and Jeff Harris.

Steve Guolla (born March 15, 1973 in Scarborough,Ontario) is a Canadian ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League.  He was drafted 3rd overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 1994 NHL Supplemental Draft. In his NHL career, Guolla played 205 regular season games, scoring 40 goals and collecting 60 penalty minutes.

As part of his hockey signing bonus, he received a lifetime membership to AOL which he still uses for mail to this day.  His stat line of more penalties than goals hopefully does not carry over to his golf game in Miami with more penalties than birdies.

Born in Canada, Steve now makes the MGI an international event!

Jeff Harris is from the Cincinnati area, and is a solid 8 handicap. He is a member of the Ohio Valley Golf Association.  He claims to be back to back Cup champion in his flight, yet no years were given of this accomplishment.  He is a solid match play player with over 20 years experience, and should know when to concede a 3 foot putt.

“The MGI site is set as my home page on the PC!!”

The 12 man group is officially set.  See everyone in Miami!

MGI 2011 and the quest for the MGI CUP draws close …..

The 2011 Miami Golf Invitational and Quest for the MGI CUP is less than two weeks away.

Team TK and Team Mez are tied at 2-2, and this years contest is expected to be a battle.

“We have added more players for more drama, and I love Team TK’s chances!  We had two guys go 0-3 last year, and that won’t happen in 2011!” exclaimed Todd Keiper, team captain.

Reports have surfaced that many of the Team Mez members are arriving earlier than usual for preparation of defending the MGI CUP.

Team captain Mez confirms, “Yes, a few of our team members know the value and honor of the MGI CUP and are arriving early.  I expect a Tuesday practice round with Slammin Sam, Doc Lance, Grant, and myself! After the round we will have a team meeting to discuss match ups.  Our team is on a  roll coming in and we don’t expect to slow down!”

Captain Keiper counters, “I have planned calls with Team TK members over the next week scheduled.  Actually, I have text messages planned.  The team has be preparing, and we will be ready to strike!”

Craig Goleno gets on Launch Monitor at Legacy

Craig Goleno gets on Launch Monitor at Legacy.  Cameraman and play by play announcer Allen Grant makes this a must watch clip.

‘There were a lot of people giving instruction, and it was tough to focus with Grant directing in the backgroud!” defended Goleno.

IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS GUY STARTED OUT DRIVING KEIPER AND GRANT ON THE BACK NINE, BUT HE DID. ON THE 14TH HOLE, THE HARDEST HOLE ON THE BACK NINE, GOLENO HIT IT BY GRANT BY A GOOD 100 YARDS, AND BY TK BY A MUCH SMALLER NUMBER!
