Spier Wines are from Stellenbosch, South Africa. Spier Wines have been around for over 200 years it seems. Recently, I sampled the Chenin Blan, Sav Blanc, and Pinotage, and all were excellent wines and also represented great value.
The Pinotage is unique to South Africa. Pinotage is a red wine grape that is South Africa’s signature variety. It was bred there in 1925 as a cross between Pinot noir and Cinsaut.
The whites are nicely done, and the Pinotage is well worth trying. I would certainly say give this vineyard a shot, and you will be pleasantly surprised.
