Craig Goleno was out at Vegas Golf Fest on Sunday Feb 21 in support of First Tee of Southern Nevada.
“It is a great program that helps kids get a chance to play golf that were not born with a silver spoon in their mouth and access to a private country club.” said Craig Goleno, “Every one agrees they would be not only a better golfer but a better person had they learned the game of golf and its values at a young age”
Getting ready for the MGI’10, we catch up with Goleno on final preparations.
“It is important that you take the time to check your golf equipment! You need to re-spike the golf shoes, throw out the old golf gloves, and make sure you golf bag is order.” remarked Craig Goleno.
“These simple tips wil eleviate a lot of stress that comes from scrambling around the clubhouse 2 minutes before your tee time trying to buy something last minute.”
Craig Goleno gets on Launch Monitor at Legacy. Cameraman and play by play announcer Allen Grant makes this a must watch clip.
‘There were a lot of people giving instruction, and it was tough to focus with Grant directing in the backgroud!” defended Goleno.
IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS GUY STARTED OUT DRIVING KEIPER AND GRANT ON THE BACK NINE, BUT HE DID. ON THE 14TH HOLE, THE HARDEST HOLE ON THE BACK NINE, GOLENO HIT IT BY GRANT BY A GOOD 100 YARDS, AND BY TK BY A MUCH SMALLER NUMBER!

AP – Las Vegas – A few of those invited to the Miami Golf Invitational were spotted on Legacy Golf Course in Las Vegas during Super Bowl weekend for a practice round. Those that made this private trip were Todd Keiper, Craig Goleno, and Allen Grant.
The weather was not perfect, but the rain stayed away. As the round continued and the rust wore off, the gallery was treated to some great golf on the back nine.
“Goleno got hot on the back nine, for a 6 hole stretch that little guy was 2 over par”, exclaimed Todd Keiper, “As for my game, my driving of the golf ball with the Cleveland HiBore was so straight and deep that I am having that club flown into Miami, but my Vegas putter stinks. I couldn’t make a 4 foot putt on 18 with it to win the match over Grant! Either I choked, or that club did, either way the match finished all square.”
Goleno added, “When Grant decided to play match play nassau against me with beer as the bet, I knew I would step up eventually. I won the front, back, and overall! The highlight was on 14, a long par 5 (2 on the cap) where I even out drove Todd Keiper, and then bombed a 3 wood to the front of the green!”
The match between Todd and Allen came down to the end as always, and 18 at Legacy has had its share of TK moments in match play history. There was the TK-TC Chin double hit one summer ago, and this year to miss that short putt to win the back and the overall was another unforgettable moment.
“I knew that once I let everyone know what was at stake and Goleno started rolling film that he would miss that putt”, shouted Allen Grant in the clubhouse, “The guy putts like a tall Chi-Chi Rodriguez.”
The event wrapped up at Pro Players for the Super Bowl Saints rout!
