Pro Tip: Allen Grant on a tight lie

Allen Grant demonstrates how to play a chip shot on a tight lie in the Angel Park Clubhouse in Las Vegas.  The video quality is poor, but the lesson is worth watching, especially for those that have never hit a chip shot at the Senator Course! (recorded 1/31/2012 c-Gol Films)

“What’s in your bag?” – 2012 MGI

What’s in your Bag?

Gol films newest addition to the MGI is a segment called, “What’s in your bag for the MGI 2012?”

For the 2012 MGI, we start with Craig Goleno, and what is in HIS bag?

Gol prepares in bizarre conditions for the MGI 2012

January 21st, Goleno attempts to get a warm up round in Boulder City.  The entire Las Vegas valley is under a wind advisory urging everyone off the roads, as the winds are close to category 3 hurricane winds.

This same day, while we were playing in Boulder City, they suspended play on the PGA tour in nearby Palm Spring for high winds, yet we played 36 holes in these conditions.

Veteran A. Grant provides early rookie advice

This is a post from Veteran A. Grant to help rookies get ready for the MGI in 2012.

About 2 weeks out, I recommend preparing for the Miami Golf Invitational by:
– Limiting your sleep to about 3 hours per night.
– Drinking heavily, 2-3 drinks at lunch is a good start. Finish strong at night with vodka, beer, and bourbon.
– Eating greasy food 3x daily, and get back on red meat.
– There is now workout gym at Shula’s, and if you find one, you will not be re-invited.
– Begging at least four banks for a $1,000 increase on your credit cards, in order to be ready for credit card roulette.
– Inhaling 5 hours worth of cigar smoke to adjust your lungs.
– Logging at least 10 hours of online blackjack to understand the fundamentals of the game,  as we play “Cups” poolside, and watch out for the “Vegas Sharks”.
– Spending about 2 hours in your local tanning bed, a Grant ritual, without lotion, unless it is my lotion “Tann Summers-Rub me all over you”.
– Sitting in your bath tub for 3 straight hours spiked with a gallon of chlorine and a mix of urine.  Your bath tub is only slightly smaller than the hot tub.
– Understanding hot tub rules that when the tub stops, you have to get out and restart it, and also bring another beer from your cooler to all the veterans in the hot tub.
Good luck to the Rookies, as the repeat invite is tough to get! You have to earn it!

Tiger falters in Abu Dhabi

Tiger Woods couldn’t get it done.  In his past, he has been known as the closest thing to a sure thing when having a share of the 54 hole lead, but recent times prove otherwise.  In the last 5 times that Woods has had a share or the outright lead after 54 holes, he has gone on to lose 3 of them! Age and nerves may be catching up to him.  See complete review coverage from out friends at Golf Talk Lounge.
